The Future Of Window Tint

The Future Of Window Tint

Window tinting is an evolving industry that is moving at a very fast pace. There are some smart and innovative people in this world who are implementing new techniques and coming up with new ideas. Window tinting tools are also constantly evolving as professionals take advantage of all the latest technological developments. Film manufacturers are always coming up with exciting new films with amazing performances and great aesthetic qualities.

Smart Tint

Smart Tint is a retrofitted electric switchable window film tint that can be fitted on cars and in homes. The smart film is applied to the internal surface of a prior glazed glass panel, but the film is still external. This film is not protected from the elements, and you can risk degradation. There are plenty of different types and styles of smart tint, each with its own set of features and benefits, but they are all extremely different. Smart tints have some features where they are able to be controlled through wifi with just a click of a button or a smartphone app, while others can have built-in sensors that will automatically adjust the tint based on the amount of sunlight hitting it.

Electrochromic Glass

Electrochromic glass can be applied to any smooth glass surface, new or old. This window treatment helps protect people inside from UV radiation, but the blue tint has been shown to throw off natural rhythms in people because of the lack of natural light, which can make smart tint film not as desirable for most projects. Electrochromic smart film will either have a yellow or blue tint. This means that having transparent glass film without a blue color is going to be impossible. which, in turn, means achieving the natural light that people are used to in a natural setting is also impossible.

Liquid Crystal

Even though electrochromic switchable film and liquid crystal glazing are considered smart tints, the two technologies are very different. Liquid crystal windows are the next generation of switchable glass. It can replace an automatic blind, which will help preserve views and filter out harmful UV rays. It is also dimmable with a button or command. They are fairly easy to install and block 99 percent of any harmful UV radiation. Unlike electrochromic smart tint, the liquid crysal windows are always clear, which in turn allows natural light to enter the room they're in.

As the world progresses, so does the technology with it. Smart tint is one of the many new and improved forms of glass that will darken or lighten to regulate the amount of heat and light that enters a building or car. This glass is not only energy efficient, but it also helps provide privacy when needed and can reduce glare. The future of tinted glass seems very promising, as more and more buildings are starting to use this type of glass.

There are plenty of potential applications for this new technology. A smart tint can reduce glare and solar heat, it can also make  a more comfortable indoor environment by reducing the need for any artificial lighting. It seems that new technologies for window film are coming out everyday. It is exciting to see the industry change and grow with the times, and I know here at Sun Control Of Minnesota, we are excited to change with it.
