Should I get Residential Window film in Minnetonka?

If you are from Minnesota, you know how unpredictable the weather can get. From the very harsh winters to the humid summers, Minnesota experiences highs and lows no matter what season it is. Thankfully, there are a lot of ways to help keep your house cool during the summer and warm during the winter. Residential window film is one of the best ways to keep your home comfortable throughout the summer and winter. Recently, I was asked by a customer if they thought window film was right for their home in Minnetonka. I think residential window film is perfect for any home in Minnesota, but let's go over why I think Minnetonka homes should have window film.

Some History

To really get to understand more about Minnetonka, let’s talk about where Minnetonka is and what it’s about. Minnetonka is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota. It is a western suburb of the Twin Cities. As of 2020, more than 53,000 residents live in Minnetonka. The city is surrounded by trees, wetlands, prairies, and multiple beautiful bodies of water, the most famous being Lake Minnetonka. Lake Minnetonka is the 10th largest lake in Minnesota. It has roughly 14,000 acres of water and more than 100 miles of shoreline. It is one of the most used lakes in the state.

Minnetonka seems to have a long and proud history that dates all the way back to the mid-1800s,  when the first settlement was established along the Minnehaha Creek. Minnetonka officially became a city in 1968. Early on, Minnetonka was known as sacred ground for Native Americans. The dense woods and prairies made for great hunting, while the lake provided great fishing. More recently, Minnetonka is home to many major corporate headquarters that include UnitedHealth Group, Carlson Companies, and Cargill.

Minnesota Weather

When you ask people who don’t live in Minnesota what the first thing they think of when they hear Minnesota is, they are more than likely going to mention winter. Very rarely do people outside of Minnesota understand how humid our summers can also be. We have fairly harsh summers just as much as winters. With Minnesota being in the upper Midwest, we experience a wide variety of weather.

With the slogan Land of 10,000 Lakes, we are also pretty well known for all the lakes we have. These lakes are one of the reasons why it gets so humid here in Minnesota. We also border the great Lake Superior. This has become a vital tourist attraction in northern Minnesota and is an important part of Minnesota’s economy.

What residential window film does

Window film is a versatile and practical solution for enhancing the performance and appearance of the windows all over your home. The adhesive film is applied directly to the interior or exterior of the glass, which provides a wide range of benefits that include increased privacy, improved energy efficiency, and enhanced aesthetic appeal.

Residential window film would be vital to anyone living in Minnesota, especially in Minnetonka. This is because of the different types of weather conditions that Minnesota sees throughout the year. Particularly, Lake Minnetonka gets very cold during the winter, and the surrounding areas can see a lake breeze. Also, because of Lake Minnetonka, the surrounding areas can get very humid during the summer. If your home has residential window film, it is more protected against the harsh winters and humid summers. If you live in Minnetonka, you need residential window film.
