ABC news reported this incredible story about a truck driver and his experience on the road; being in contact with the sun, and the damaging UV rays. As you can see in the picture below, it is a dramatic difference between the left and right side of his face. In fact, it is a 20 year difference. The right side of his face is aged at 66, and his left side is aged to be about 86. He drove unprotected from the sun while driving his milk truck for 28 years. The left side of his face was closest to the window where over the years he accrued much more sun damage. He suffers from photo-aging or unilateral dermatoheliosis, which is caused by over exposure to the UVA rays of the sun. UVA rays can penetrate through the glass or the clouds, making anyone at risk if driving without window tint, or not having sunscreen on.
It is very important to take precautions against the sun. If you are worried about your looks and not the damage the sun will cause, hopefully this picture will convince you to protect yourself.
Window film blocks out 99.9% of the UV rays that pass through the window. Both UVA and UVB rays are blocked when window tint is combined with the glass. Some people believe that you need to have dark film to receive the benefits of window film, but in fact, it does not matter how dark the film is when it comes to protection from the sun (UV rays). Having window film applied at Minnesota’s legal limit (50% Visible Light Transmission), you are able to keep the natural appearance of your vehicle’s windows, but still receive all of the amazing benefits you would with a darker film! With window tint, you receive many benefits, from UV protection, heat rejection and to glare reduction. All of these factors help you, as you become more comfortable in your surroundings. Whether it be in your car, your home or your business, window film will create a comfortable atmosphere for you and your family, without always having to apply sunscreen.
